IT LEARNS WHICH NIGHTS ARE YOURS Tell it which evenings are hard, and it starts there. Then it watches what you actually log. If your Thursdays turn out fine and your Tuesdays don't, it says so — and asks whether it has got you right before it acts on it.

A MESSAGE, NOT AN ALERT One message, in a voice you choose, arriving before the hour you named. Gentle, blunt, funny or plain. Never more than one a day, never at three in the morning, and never a word about it if you'd rather it said nothing.

TWO TAPS TO LOG Beer, wine, spirits, cocktail, prosecco, cider — and an alcohol-free option, because "I had three alcohol-free beers" is a real answer on a night you stayed clear. Serving sizes are right for where you live: a pint in Britain and a pint in Chicago are different numbers.

ANSWER FROM THE LOCK SCREEN Miss a couple of days and it asks, honestly, whether they were clear. One tap and they're recorded — the app never opens. And it never counts a day you didn't confirm, because a streak you didn't earn is worth nothing.

WHAT IT COST YOU, IN YOUR OWN MONEY Money not spent, priced off what you actually logged rather than an average. Clear mornings. Clear days. The first thing you see, because it's the reason you came back.

A MONTH YOU CAN SEE Every day on one calendar, colour-coded from clear through to a night you'd rather not repeat. A heavy night never removes a clear morning from your total. Forty-two days with one hard night on day thirty is forty-two days.

HONEST ABOUT THE HARD PART Some nights are ones you don't remember. Only you can mark those — the app will never guess it from a number, because nothing in a unit count can tell the difference.

YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE No account. No email. Every drink, every pattern, every note lives in a database on your device. When a message reaches you, the only thing our server was ever given is the words and the minute — the working out happened on your phone. Export it whenever you like. Delete all of it in two taps, and it's gone.

Lock the app with Face ID if you'd rather nobody else opened it.
