Features & Capabilities

Three minutes slow. Three minutes brisk. Repeat. QuietWalk keeps the rhythm and taps your wrist at every switch, phone in your pocket. Four breathing exercises, free.

Three minutes slow. Three minutes brisk. Repeat.

That is the walk — the practice often called Japanese walking — and QuietWalk keeps the rhythm for you, marking every switch with a pattern of taps so the phone can stay in your pocket and the screen can stay dark. On the days you would rather sit still than walk, there is guided breathing instead. No account, no ads, no analytics.

THE WALK

Choose a length, choose a rhythm, and put the phone away. Every change of pace arrives as four pulses against your leg: unhurried and rolling to ease off, firm and quick to pick it up. If the screen has gone dark, a notification carries the same signal. You never have to look.

The same walk you were going to take anyway, given a shape.

THE BREATH — ALL FOUR ARE FREE

Soft Exhale, in 4, out 6 — the gentlest place to start Coherence, in 5, out 5 — six breaths a minute Box, 4 · 4 · 4 · 4 — stillness at every corner 4 · 7 · 8 — a long exhale to lay the day down

A sun swells as you breathe in, rests through the hold, and settles as you breathe out. The haptics rise and fall with it and go silent during holds, so a whole session works with your eyes closed. Three, five or ten minutes, and the screen stays awake until you are done.

ON APPLE WATCH

The watch app is not a remote control. A walk runs as a real workout session, so the taps keep arriving with your wrist down, live heart rate and active calories sit on screen, and the finished walk lands in the Health app as a walking workout. Breathing works from the wrist too, with its own tap for each phase. Your streak is there as well. With both apps open, start, pause, resume or reset on either device and the other follows — and a walk is logged once, never twice.

A JOURNAL, NOT A SCOREBOARD

Finished sessions gather quietly: a day streak, seven markers for the week behind you, minutes walked and minutes breathed, and the sessions themselves. Walks are written to the Health app as workouts, breathing as mindful minutes. Nothing to compare, nobody to beat.

MUSIC

Original ambient playlists made for this app under the name TMSTRY, streamed while you walk. Thirty pieces across three collections — Echoes of Kyoto, Dreams of Nara and Silence of Kōya — with tracks like Temple Rainfall, Wisteria Hour and Snow on the Pagoda. Lock screen and Control Center controls. During breathing, silence is the default.

THE FEEL

A red gradient sun carries the countdown while a small figure walks once around the ring. Washi paper, ink bamboo, serif type, full dark mode. Every session ends in a sunset: the sun sinks and one line is left on the screen — Thich Nhat Hanh, Dōgen, an old Zen proverb — before the app lets you go.

FREE, AND QUIETWALK ZEN

The 30 minute walk on a 3 minute rhythm is free, always. So is all of the breathing — every exercise, every length. QuietWalk Zen is one optional in-app purchase, paid once, never a subscription: it opens walks of 15, 45 and 60 minutes, and rhythms of 2 or 5 minutes. Nothing that is free becomes paid.

PRIVACY

No account. No ads. No analytics. No tracking. QuietWalk writes to the Health app and reads only your heart rate and active energy during a watch workout. Nothing else leaves your device.
