The Outsiders: Athlete Tracker

Running & Cycling Readiness

Features & Capabilities

Built for self-coached athletes who train outdoors, The Outsiders: Athlete Tracker balances intensity with recovery. It delivers a daily Training Readiness score, blending acute-to-chronic load, sleep, and body metrics to guide today’s effort and long-term progress. Created by the team behind Apple Watch App of the Year 2022 & 2024 Apple Design Award winner.

Across cycling, running, swimming, and performance-driven training, it gathers HealthKit data on-device and presents Today, Progress, and Workouts views with interactive charts for Sleep, Training Load Ratio (TLR), body metrics, HR zones, and key performance indicators such as CTL, VO₂ max, and FTP. It supports 10-language localization, a privacy-first approach, and a companion Apple Watch app, with planned features like Running Pace and Cycling Power Curve to come.

Really cool app, has helped me a lot with gaining insights on my training preparedness, cardio fitness, etc. I think something I’d like to see is menstrual cycle tracking and linking it to preparedness and readiness, because it is a big factor

I’m tired of my ultra runner friends and their Garmin watches. They’re not bad (the watches ;) but I still prefer my Apple Watch and want something sort of similar in aiding me on my fitness life. Now my bad friends who don’t use the Apple Watch…well I’ll just have to accept them.

I had already done a trial in the past so now had to pay the lowest tier ($6/mo) just to try the Garmin integration. Was disappointed to see that it only pulls in activities. The Bevel app pulls in all data and it works so well. Now, the Outsiders app still has the blank body metrics on Home Screen even though I have all the data in my Garmin (and downstream, in Bevel). This was unclear to me (although I see the announcement only calls out workouts) before I paid the $6, and I’ll request a refund. It’s not a big deal if it’s not approved since I still love the devs. This is still a good app!
