Most reviews describe Virginia Mobile ID as unreliable and frustrating. The biggest recurring issues are: unreliable facial recognition and scanning with little user feedback; frequent re-enrollment and data loss across sessions or after iOS updates; license/ID scanning failures and slow progress; no Apple Wallet integration despite user demand; and compatibility problems on newer iPhone models (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro, 16 Pro) and iOS versions. A minority note easy initial setup and view the app as a potential backup to a physical card, but the overall experience remains poor.

Recent reviews

Overall a great idea and will be convenient. Will be much better as it becomes accepted at more places. One frustration is it seems to forget that I have registered. Not sure if that occurs when the app updates, but value is questionable when one goes to use it and gets prompted to register again. Happened twice to me so far!
