WISH+ is a compassionate mental health app designed to help widows navigate the emotional challenges of grief, anxiety, and depression. Whether you're coping with recent loss or long-term grief, WISH+ offers personalized tools, resources, and support to help you heal at your own pace.


WHO Self-Help Plus Program


WISH+ uses the Self-Help Plus program, a mental health resource created by the WHO to empower individuals to manage their emotional well-being. The program consists of five lessons focused on core techniques:

Lesson 1: Grounding
Grounding techniques help individuals reconnect with the present moment and manage overwhelming emotions. This lesson introduces practices to help widows become more aware of their body and environment, reducing feelings of disconnection and emotional overwhelm. WISH+ offers interactive exercises, including breathing techniques and body scans, to help users find calm during moments of emotional intensity.

Lesson 2: Unhooking
Unhooking focuses on detaching from painful thoughts and emotions that may dominate the mind, particularly during grief. This lesson teaches cognitive techniques to help widows observe their thoughts without becoming consumed by them. The goal is to create emotional distance from distressing thoughts, such as self-blame or guilt, so that users can respond more mindfully. WISH+ provides visual aids and guided prompts to help users practice unhooking from negative thought patterns.

Lesson 3: Acting on Your Values
Loss can often leave widows feeling disconnected from their sense of purpose or identity. This lesson helps users reconnect with their core values and find meaning in their daily actions, even during difficult times. WISH+ encourages users to identify what truly matters to them, such as personal growth, family, or kindness, and to take small, meaningful actions that align with these values. By focusing on what is important, widows can build a sense of purpose and direction as they navigate their grief.

Lesson 4: Being Kind
Self-compassion is a critical aspect of emotional healing. In this lesson, WISH+ guides widows through exercises that promote kindness toward themselves, offering practical ways to counteract self-criticism and guilt. Through journaling prompts and reflection activities, users are encouraged to recognize their struggles and treat themselves with the same care and understanding they would offer to a friend in similar pain. By fostering self-compassion, widows can reduce feelings of shame or inadequacy and develop healthier emotional coping strategies.

Lesson 5: Making Room
Grief is complex, and it often involves holding multiple, conflicting emotions at once. This lesson teaches the practice of making room for difficult emotions without trying to suppress or avoid them. WISH+ provides exercises that encourage users to sit with their feelings of sadness, anger, or fear in a safe, non-judgmental way. By accepting their emotions and allowing them to exist without resistance, widows can create emotional space for healing and gradually regain their emotional balance.
