User reviews
ActiveInbox is widely praised for its powerful Gmail integration and task management capabilities, significantly aiding users in maintaining inbox zero and following GTD principles. Users appreciate features like reminders and note-taking. However, some report technical issues with Gmail updates and Firefox compatibility, as well as challenges with customer support responsiveness. Privacy concerns regarding browsing history access and the desire for improved mobile app versions are also noted.
Pros
- Effectively helps organize Gmail and manage tasks, greatly enhancing productivity.
- Excellent integration with Gmail and supports GTD (Getting Things Done) methodology.
- Reliable and elegant tool that transforms email into a manageable task system.
- Responsive and helpful customer support from the development team in some cases.
- Includes useful features like labeling, reminders, note-taking, and sending emails later.
Cons
- Occasional issues with compatibility, especially with new Gmail versions and Firefox support.
- Support can be inconsistent; some users report slow or unhelpful responses.
- Some users experience functionality problems after installation, including email content not displaying.
- The extension requires access to browsing history, raising privacy concerns without clear explanation.
- The mobile/iOS app has some shortcomings and users are hoping for improvements or an iPad version.

Privacy: Why share Browsing history is now required ? I'm not against it if there is a good reason ? And I've search some explanation without success.

I have been using this extension for years now and it adds some much needed features for dealing with emails and for anyone who does most of their business by email, it is almost a must have in order to keep on top of everything and avoid forgetting to follow up emails or chase people for responses.
If more people used something like this, then perhaps I wouldn't be spending so much time constantly chasing people for responses.
Sadly this great product is let down by poor support. Ironically the AIB team do not seem to use their own product, as getting responses to emails is like getting a photo of a unicorn.
Support is a painful and time consuming process requiring endless chasing of emails, usually over several months and being constantly told "we will get back to you", which of course never happens.
I have even had some support issues which have dragged on for years and I eventually just had to give up on them ever being resolved.
If it wasn't for the rubbish support, I would be giving 5 starts.

After using this awesome extension for years, I am very disappointed that it just won't work with the primary account anymore, and it no longer works in Firefox at all. I contacted support and they were supremely unhelpful.
