User reviews

The Tag Assistant Companion extension is valued by marketers and website owners as a useful tool to debug tag implementations, offering familiarity for those used to GTM preview mode and general utility for tracking evaluation. However, multiple users report significant issues such as unreliable detection on some websites, misleading feedback when tags are blocked due to consent settings, poor documentation, and connection problems after recent updates. These limitations have caused frustration and reduced the extension's effectiveness.

Cons
  • Extension doesn't work reliably on all websites; some users experience bugs or failures in detection.
  • Lack of clear and accurate feedback, especially when tags are blocked due to consent; misleading 'No tags found' message.
  • Poor or insufficient help documentation and lack of guidance within the extension.
  • Recurring connection issues when debugging with GTM after recent updates.
