Features & Capabilities

OBD Fusion is an iOS app that reads OBD2 data from your vehicle, letting you read and clear diagnostic trouble codes, monitor fuel economy, and view real-time dashboards on your device. Create customizable gauges and dashboards to suit how you drive, and share full diagnostic reports when needed.

Important notes: requires a compatible OBD adapter (Wi‑Fi ELM327 or Bluetooth LE adapters such as Veepeak, Carista, OBDLink, etc.). It supports most OBD2/EOBD vehicles worldwide, offers GPS mapping, iCloud/Dropbox sync, and optional enhanced diagnostics via in-app purchases. Various units, PIDs, and languages are supported; background GPS use can affect battery life.

User Reviews

OBD Fusion is valued for broad data support, real-time multi-parameter diagnostics, and long-term reliability across vehicles. Recurrent drawbacks include CarPlay gauge limitations, paywalls locking core features, performance lag, and gaps in vehicle coverage. Overall, users appreciate the app’s data richness and community support but criticize pricing changes and CarPlay limitations.
Pros
  • Broad compatibility with OBD dongles and a wide range of PIDs (RPM, EGT, trans temp, boost, oil pressure, DEF level, DPF load, etc.).
  • Real-time data with dashboards that let you monitor multiple engine parameters at once.
  • Long-term reliability and active updates, with users reporting years of useful use across multiple vehicles.
  • Helpful community resources (PID files and forums) that ease setup and customization.
  • CarPlay support is available and generally seamless, with some users noting improving live data performance.
Cons
  • CarPlay gauges are missing or limited, with several reviews stating CarPlay mode does not show gauges and that real-time gauges on CarPlay are lacking.
  • Essential features and sensors are often locked behind paywalls or require additional upgrades, leading to dissatisfaction among long-time users.
  • Notable performance issues like slow operation and lag in live data have been reported by multiple users.
  • Vehicle/model coverage is uneven, with some brands/sensors unsupported (e.g., Nissan gaps, Subaru CVT temps not readable).
  • Some users report data/export limitations and frustrations with changes in pricing or feature availability.

They don’t tell you what extended PIDs are supported until after you pay $15 for the license. I paid to get information to diagnose my AC issues on a 2019 3, and none of the relevant PIDs are even available through this app. No option for a refund.

Loving OBD Fusion highly recommend would be really cool if you can add gauges to the CarPlay setting as right now the only thing I could access through CarPlay is vehicle speed engine, RPM coolant, temperature trip information and DTC

They advertise wrongly that the “OBD Fusion” paid app “contains the same functionality” as this free OBDLink app. Far from it. Explain that there are significant differences where both apps may be required. You got my money for your MX+ hardware over this misleading point. But no high rating.
