User Reviews

User reviews laud Spoony as a safe, supportive space for chronically ill, disabled, and neurodivergent people, with a welcoming community and promising design. Many praise the ability to connect with like-minded folks and find real support. However, recurring issues include scammers and fake profiles, reliability bugs and frequent outages, age-gating inconsistencies between the App Store and the app, and limitations around local (state/city) searches. Overall, users value the concept and kindness but call for stronger safety measures, better stability, and clearer regional accessibility to fully realize its potential.
Pros
  • Safe, supportive space for chronically ill, disabled, and neurodivergent people.
  • Helps users connect with like-minded individuals and form friendships, reducing loneliness.
  • Promising concept with appealing UI/design that feels calm and inclusive.
  • Community praised for kindness and a drama-free, welcoming vibe.
  • Active development and responsiveness from the team to fix issues and improve safety.
Cons
  • Prevalence of scammers, bots, and fake profiles; safety concerns persist.
  • Reliability issues and bugs: app frequently offline or failing to load features.
  • Age gating confusion: conflicting 17+ vs 18+ requirements across listings.
  • Geography/location limitations: difficulty finding local connections; limited to certain regions.
Recent reviews
I tried making an account and it continuously gave me the “reCAPTCHA verification failed” error and wouldn’t allow me to even sign up, it’s really disappointing. I was excited to try this app out and maybe find people to connect and be friends with that are similar to me, but I wasn’t even given the chance to.

best app ever for chronically ill disabled folks and neurodivergent people. If this shuts down you are shutting down community for thousands of people who can’t make community in person due to reasons they can’t control. I love this app so much. Please for the love of god don’t shut this down

After the latest updates to the app the amount of scammers and fake profiles has been reduced significantly. I really appreciate the communication from the devs about the fixes they’ve been working on too. The app feels safe again and I’m confident that any lingering issues will be fixed with time
