User Reviews

Users praise The HOP for car-free, affordable mobility and convenient pickup/drop-off options, especially useful for work and on-base travel. However, the most-mentioned downsides are unreliability: long and inconsistent wait times, booking/ride-management glitches, driver availability issues, and app accessibility problems that hinder use for some riders.
Pros
  • Very useful for people without a car, especially for daily commuting and getting to work.
  • Pickup/drop-off convenience, with location-based pickup and drop-off near work.
  • Affordable/low-cost transportation option compared to alternatives.
  • Helpful for military/base residents needing transit and on-base mobility.
Cons
  • Long, inconsistent wait times and late pickups/drop-offs across trips.
  • Booking and trip-management problems (phantom buses, trips with no assigned bus, inability to edit/cancel bookings).
  • Inconsistent driver availability and reliability (occasional 'no rides' reports and drivers often late).
  • App usability and accessibility issues (UI glitches, delays after taps, and VoiceOver/accessibility problems).

The time it tells you you will arrive is inaccurate it’s a good service for if you need a ride as on the weekend but if you have an apt make sure you request the ride to drop you off at least an hour before your apt because the hop system will continue to add people and will extend your time in the van or vehicle for another 20 minutes at a time

I’m a on base barracks soldier I live like a 3-4 minute drive to the Dfac I got my food and waited got on and the driver took the longest route possible and what could’ve been a Just a few minutes drive down the road turned into a near hour long ride now I’m late

The app is extremely buggy and will at times just stop working entirely (as in not being able to book a ride). If you try to rely on this for travel, at some point you may end up stranded.
