User reviews show heavy dissatisfaction, centering on reliability and usability. The app often fails to load or signs in slowly, and carts/lists frequently reset or disappear. Payment methods can error during checkout. Search and navigation were degraded after updates, making it hard to find items or understand what’s available. Recent reviews

Dev team removed back end functionality to support reward card, so even though there is a menu option to add Fresh Values Reward Card to Apple Wallet you receive a Technical Difficulties error message. This means you also can't get notifications when you are in store. Contacted customer service and was told that functionality was no longer active, so apparently instead of improving the app they are making it worse.

Within the app, some of the shopping is convoluted, especially the deals, but manageable. I mostly use the app for pickup orders. What I loathe about Smiths is that the app pushes ads and deals that I don’t want as well as order notifications that I do want. I can always open the app if I’m looking for deals. They do not provide a breakdown of Push Preferences in the account settings, so I am either stuck with no push notifications or all the push notifications, which include promotions, suggestions, and other nonsense. This lack of control over notifications is all too common.
