Features & Capabilities

RequestIndy is an exciting tool from the City of Indianapolis’ Mayor’s Action Center that allows our citizens to request non-emergency City services and report issues such as potholes, missed trash collection, and stray animals. Currently, RequestIndy can be used to enter more than 30 of the most commonly requested services. RequestIndy is fully-integrated with the City’s enterprise-wide service systems for each City department so requests are routed directly to the folks who can resolve the issue.

RequestIndy is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to allow citizens to make these requests at their convenience.

RequestIndy may also be used to check the status of previously submitted requests.

User Reviews

User reviews consistently show that RequestIndy is a basic, city-provided tool that can be functional for submitting issues, with some users reporting timely resolutions. However, widespread reliability and usability issues dominate, including frequent freezing or loading failures, unreliable address lookup, persistent login and password reset problems, and non-working photo uploads. Many also lament poor support, lack of status updates after submission, and a frustrating redesign that made navigation harder. Overall, the app can be useful in principle but is plagued by stability, accessibility, and user-experience issues that undermine consistent use.
Pros
  • Functional for submitting issues; the app is usable for basic reporting.
  • Some users report timely resolutions or actions to submitted requests (e.g., within a month).
  • Provides a direct channel to city services (RequestIndy) for reporting issues.
  • Used by residents for years, indicating familiarity and trust.
  • Not fancy but serves a practical purpose in a city context.
Cons
  • App frequently freezes or fails to load, leaving users stuck on splash or loading screens.
  • Address lookup is unreliable or non-functional, making it hard to locate an address or submit a report.
  • Password/login problems, including failed resets and inability to create a new account.
  • Photo upload feature often doesn't work on iPhone; users can't attach images to reports.
  • Poor support and lack of status updates; tickets are often closed without comments and the redesign/navigation is frustrating.

App Is Constantly Freezing. I’m on My 3rd Day of Trying to get it to Open . I Would Not Waste Time Downloading It.

I want to report a missing cap on a fire hydrant. This app only allows you to pick from a very limited set of choices. None of them have anything to do with fire hydrants. 311 doesn’t work on my mobile phone. I’ll see if IFD has a non-emergency phone number.
