User Reviews

DashDietTracker is valued for its ad-free, simple, customizable DASH tracking, including Phase 1/2 support and emoji feedback. Users praise the straightforward design, ability to customize serving portions, and weight tracking without subscriptions. However, recurring issues involve a sensitive scrolling UI that risks mis-entry, missing hydration tracking, incomplete food groups (e.g., fruit) and other items, adding foods being unclear, and Phase-specific UX limitations. Overall, it’s a solid DASH tracker for those who want a paper-like, ad-free experience, but it could improve input usability and feature completeness (hydration, more food groups, export/dark mode).
Pros
  • Ad-free experience with no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
  • Simple, straightforward interface that’s easy to use.
  • Customizable serving portions and DASH plan options.
  • Supports tracking for DASH Phase 1 and Phase 2 (and weight).
  • Emoji-based calendar feedback that visualizes daily goal achievement.
Cons
  • Navigation/scrolling is overly sensitive, making it easy to enter the wrong item or mis-navigate.
  • No water intake tracking; users want to track hydration as part of DASH.
  • Some food groups are missing or incomplete (notably fruit; other items like fats/oils or sweets are not fully supported).
  • Adding foods isn’t intuitive and the UI for inputting foods is unclear or difficult.
  • Phase 1/Phase 2 tracking has UX limitations (can trigger unhappy feedback; not all phase-specific options feel usable).
Recent reviews
Too easy to record items in error since you can’t move within sections (ie fruits to veggies) without inadvertently scrolling to a new number.

I really appreciate that this app is an actual tracker for the DASH diet that is recommended by doctors for controlling blood pressure. No entering every bite of food you eat, no calorie and weight loss focus in your face, no subscriptions, and no ads. You can customize your tracker for whichever DASH plan you are using. I hope future updates or improvements to interface will stay true to the original purpose, not adding “features” that make it diet-culture centric.

Used it two days and was done with it. Deleted. Still going strong with the Dash diet, but this app doesn’t allow for using the phases 1 & 2 without giving you the unhappy face.
