User Reviews

Reviewers highlight Sibelius as a feature-rich notation tool with potential for composers, and some praise its attractive UI. However, reliability dominates the feedback: frequent crashes, missing autosave, and occasional data corruption that loses work. Subscription and billing issues, unhelpful or hard-to-reach support, and a non-intuitive, difficult-to-navigate interface further frustrate users. While some users still see value and updates (e.g., more staves), the core takeaway across multiple reviews is that stability and reliable access to features must improve.
Pros
  • Offers a broad set of notation features for composers/editors and arrangers.
  • Helpful for music creation according to some users.
  • Attractive UI/design.
  • Mobile/tablet presence enabling notation work on iPad.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability causing loss of work; autosave is unreliable.
  • Data corruption and inability to recover work; reliability concerns.
  • Subscription and billing issues; features not unlocking; poor or no customer support.
  • Difficult, non-intuitive UI; hard to navigate; 'hunt and peck' to find features.
  • Limited export/playback options on mobile; no mobile export and compatibility issues.

I tried to give it a chance but it sucks

Definitely attractive and I was thinking about getting the full license. But then when I returned to my first piece from 10 hours ago and took the app out of Split Screen, it crashed, and my piece was nowhere to be found. It forgot to auto-save. Obviously that needs to be air-tight before someone starts a real composition.
