User Reviews

ForScore offers a powerful, all-in-one sheet-music library with annotations, set lists, and cross-device syncing, plus hands-free page turning. However, users repeatedly report lag and reliability problems after updates, confusing UI changes, stability issues, and feature regressions (e.g., annotated PDF export and extended display). Apple Pencil editing glitches also surface. The app remains highly valued for live performance and organization, but ongoing improvements to performance, reliability, and UX are essential for broader satisfaction.
Pros
  • Comprehensive music-library features (annotation/markup, set lists, scanning/importing, and organizing) with built-in tools like metronome and tuner.
  • Hands-free page turning across devices (facial-recognition page turning; contactless turning) and compatibility with external pedal support.
  • Sync across devices and offline access (store music on iPad/iPhone or computer and don’t rely on constant internet).
  • Live-performance efficiency and portability (reduces physical gear load, easy management for multiple ensembles)
Cons
  • Significant lag and slow performance after updates (laggy page turns and slow searches).
  • UI/UX changes that hide features and complicate navigation (toolbar behavior, bubbly elements, difficulty locating song lists).
  • Stability problems (crashes, freezes, unreliability requiring force-quits).
  • Feature regressions or removals (loss/modification of exporting annotated PDFs, extended display issues).
  • Apple Pencil annotation glitches and editing hiccups in editing mode.

Forscore is a terrific app for storing, displaying and marking up scores with great features. The syncing between Apple devices is a nightmare and has been for several years. Forscore REALLY needs to get serious about fixing this. It really undermines the user experience causing vast amounts of time wasted consulting help, customer service, deleting, backing up re-syncing and more. .

The app does the job nicely for the most part. Little missing things here and there keep it from being great—when installing on a new device, I have to add a document on that device first to be able to set up iCloud sync; and I’ve found no way to move multiple items to a library in one go. Things like that.
