User reviews
Users report the Bear Chrome extension is simple and works well if instructions are followed, providing quick saving to Bear with some customization. However, persistent permission prompts, inability to capture code blocks and images properly, repeated page reloads disrupting workflow, and poor formatting after clipping are common issues. Many reviews mention its failure on certain pages and unstable behavior on Windows Chrome, leading to frustration and disappointment.
Pros
- Works flawlessly when instructions are followed
- Lightweight and simple to use
- Supports saving clips to Bear app instantly
- Has available options accessible via right-click
- Can set custom tags when clipping
Cons
- Constantly asks for permissions on each site click
- Does not properly capture code blocks, headers, and some images
- Webpage reloads on each activation causing lost reading position
- Poor formatting preservation and messy page layout after clipping
- Doesn't work well or at all on some pages (e.g., Amazon, order confirmations) and on Windows Chrome
Recent reviews
Constantly asks for permissions to open Bear on each click. Doesn't work on amazon pages with the default settings. Assume it's amazon protecting against scraping, but given it's prevalence, would be good for this extension to note this, or code a workaround of saving just URL and title.

Keeps asking for permission for each site. Really, it should ask for permissions once, not for each site.

Doesn't get everything, specifically, code blocks. Initial result looks great, but when you look it over and realize HALF the content is missing, it's pretty disappointing. I basically got a better result by highlighting the whole page and doing a copy/paste.... At least content doesn't get lost that way.
