How ScrollGate blocks apps

ScrollGate uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect the moment you open an app you've locked, so it can immediately show the ScrollGate lock screen over it. This is the only reliable way for an app to detect that another app was just opened, so it's required for blocking to work.

ScrollGate never uses this permission to read screen content, capture keystrokes, or collect personal data from other apps — it only checks which app is in the foreground. Everything stays on your device, and you can turn the permission off anytime from Android Settings.
