VLCberry Firefox

VLCberry

By: Simon
Send URL to VLC media player on your Raspberry Pi, also for Firefox Android. Great for youtube.

Features & Capabilities

Hi, this little add-on will send the URL of the current tab to the standard VLC media player on your Raspberry Pi and start playing there. It will only produce sensible results when you send for example a youtube video.

It is a very convenient way to watch/listen to youtube videos on your Raspberry Pi.

This is a first and very rough version. Proceed with care.

You may configure the address and port of your VLC media player in the preferences of the add-on. There is no additional software or plugins for VLC media player required.

On your VLC media player, you need to enable the HTTP interface and set a password. After you restart VLC media player, it will start a HTTP-server to listen at port 8080.

Hit the Play-Button in the address window of Firefox to sent the URL to VLC. At the first time Firefox asks you for the password. Leave the username blank. Firefox will open a new tab with some feedback from the VLC Player

Have fun Simon
