After several login attempts and endless access codes, I was told my Government Gateway account had been deleted. HMRC then couldn’t verify my identity, possibly due to “technical issues”, so I had to download yet another app—which has now shown a generic loading screen for 15 minutes. I investigate complaints about these organisations for a living, yet their fundamental uselessness still amazes me.
