RYA SafeTrx is the official app of the Royal Yachting Association designed to help sailors register their vessels and plan maritime journeys seamlessly from their smartphones. It enables users to file detailed sail plans including ETA, activity type, and waypoints, or simply activate tracking mode to monitor trips in real-time.

With automatic position reporting to RYA servers, emergency contacts are alerted if trips exceed estimated arrival times, enhancing safety at sea. The app features access to official Met Office weather data, a personalized checklist builder, emergency call activation, and the ability to store up to 20 trips in a mobile logbook with video playback. Suitable for all, regardless of RYA membership, RYA SafeTrx offers peace of mind by sharing your position with friends and family and supplementing standard vessel safety tools.

Unintuitive. Not fit for purpose (presented as replacement for CG66 IIRC). Couldn't work it out and I thought I was reasonably competent with apps! Didn't want to risk panicking nominated contacts because I'd misunderstood the app, so didn't use in a recent long offshore passage. I subsequently asked on a busy boating group "who used it" and only got 3 answers - 2 ppl who work in IT used it and one who didn't and also couldn't get on with it. Not a suitable replacement for the CG66 at all.

Brilliant free app, you have to accept that nothing happens if you're in a no signal area ie a long way offshore, but it all catches up when your phone is receiving signals again, my only problem is forgetting to press send to the people I'm keeping informed I keep assuming that I've done the necessary once I've followed the apps instructions
