Features & Capabilities

Meet the all-new Remote Utilities app — rebuilt from the ground up. Full remote control, file transfer, power actions, multi-monitor support and much more.

Remote Utilities gives you full remote access to your Windows, macOS and Linux computers from your iPhone or iPad — over the Internet or LAN, with zero network configuration. View the remote desktop, control the mouse and keyboard, transfer files and manage power, all from one app.

Free for personal and business use alike — no ads.

REMOTE CONTROL • Full Control and View modes with a convenient toolbar — quick actions and commands at hand • Two input methods in Full Control: Trackpad (mouse pointer, with optional cursor momentum) or Touch — choose what suits your habits • Multi-monitor support — switch to a single remote monitor or view all at once • Next-generation screen capture codec for faster performance, with the classic codec available as an option • Blank the remote screen and block remote input for privacy • Lock the remote computer and close the session in one step

FILE TRANSFER • Copy and move files both ways between your device and the remote PC • Resume interrupted downloads and uploads

POWER CONTROL • Shut down, restart, lock, sleep or hibernate the remote computer

CONNECTIVITY & SECURITY • Connect directly by IP address or instantly via Internet-ID — no router or firewall setup needed • Three authentication modes: single password, login and password, or custom server security

ADDRESS BOOK • Full-fledged address book with folders and per-connection properties • Set default connection properties as a template for new entries • Multiple address books of different types — local or synced • Full import, export and sync capabilities

SELF-HOSTED SERVER • Complete support for your own Remote Utilities server: address book sync, server-based authentication and relay through your own infrastructure

To connect, install the free Host module on the remote computer — available for Windows, macOS and Linux at https://www.remoteutilities.com

User Reviews

Users report that Remote Utilities can handle basic remote viewing across iPad/iPhone and Windows and can be fast. However, multiple reviews highlight serious drawbacks: missing core input controls (no right-click, Ctrl+Alt+Del, limited Windows keys), unreliable login/connection (ipad password errors, failed logins), frequent stability issues (crashes, freezes, black screens), and overall feature limitations (no file transfer). Cursor/input reliability is also a concern. Improvements in core controls, reliability, and parity with desktop features would likely raise overall satisfaction.
Pros
  • Good for basic remote viewing on iPad/iPhone and Windows.
  • Fast and usable for basic tasks when connections work.
  • Useful for remote access on the road across devices.
Cons
  • Missing essential remote-control features: no right-click, no Ctrl+Alt+Del, and limited Windows-key support.
  • Login and connection reliability issues: password problems on iPad, failed logins, and unstable connections.
  • Stability problems: frequent crashes, freezes after taps, and startup or black-screen crashes after updates.
  • Limited features compared to desktop Remote Utilities: lack of file transfer and other core functionality.
  • Input/cursor problems: remote cursor visibility issues and unreliable mouse actions.

For some reason, my iPhone connects perfectly fine but my iPad keeps saying wrong password and I’ve checked all the settings a dozen times and I’ve reset the password and it still works on the iPhone, but it won’t work on the iPad, just weird

It is ok for viewing - to help someone on the other end - but too many features are lacking.
