Features & Capabilities

Unified Remote turns your iPhone or iPad into a universal remote for Windows, macOS, and Linux computers. Control your mouse and keyboard, manage media playback, mirror your screen, browse files, run presentations, and perform power actions such as shutdown, restart, locking, and Wake on LAN.

The app supports more than 100 programs, including Spotify, VLC, Kodi, Plex, Netflix, YouTube, PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Siri and Shortcuts integration lets you automate computer actions, while custom remotes enable personalized controls. Setup is simple: install the free desktop server, connect automatically, and start controlling your computer. The free version includes 18 remotes, with a one-time purchase unlocking the full collection and extended keyboard.

User Reviews

Reviewers consistently praise Unified Remote for its affordable full-access option and strong PC remote capabilities over LAN/Wi‑Fi, plus widgets and couch-friendly use. However, many iOS users report bugs, frequent disconnects, lag, and reliability issues, along with concerns about slow updates and paywalled features. The app is highly valued when it works, but stability and ongoing iOS support are common pain points.
Pros
  • Affordable one-time full-access price (about $5)
  • Robust PC remote control via LAN/Wi‑Fi including trackpad, keyboard, and media controls (works with VLC, iTunes)
  • No internet required for local LAN use and generally responsive/low-latency in many scenarios
  • Useful extras like a fully-functional home screen widget and customizable remotes
  • Great convenience for TV/home-theater setups and couch-based PC control
Cons
  • iOS version is buggy with frequent disconnects, lag, and inconsistent performance
  • Reliability issues across networks/servers (frequent disconnects, sometimes won’t see the PC)
  • Perceived stagnation in updates on iOS and feature gating/paywall frustration
  • UI/input bugs (e.g., scrolling clunkiness and taps being misinterpreted)

One of the best purchases I’ve made so far. It’s sooooooooo useful for almost everything you don’t have hands for. I use it all the time, definitely worth every penny ❤️

I really don’t like the recent UI update. For some reason, the keyboard is now designed for Mac. No more ctrl, alt, or window. lol.
