Candor: Manager Coach

Practice the conversation you keep putting off. Say it out loud to someone who pushes back, then see what landed and what to say next time.

Some conversations you rehearse in your head for a week. Telling your most reliable engineer that his work has slipped. Saying no to your boss's pet project.

With Candor you practice them first, out loud, with someone who talks back.

HOW IT WORKS Pick a situation and say what you would actually say. The other person answers in character and reacts to how you open: they might get defensive, or they might come around. Can't talk right now? Type instead.

You get a quick note when a line works, and a tip when it doesn't. At the end there's a short report: what landed, what to work on, and a better first line for next time.

12 SITUATIONS NEW MANAGERS REALLY FACE • Your top performer keeps cutting people off in stand-up • Your best closer misses every deadline • Someone presents the team's work as their own • A former peer now reports to you and jokes about it • Sales promised a client a custom demo in four days • A 1:1 that has turned into weekly venting

SHORT LESSONS Five-minute lessons on direct feedback, saying no and setting boundaries. Practice cards to swipe through between meetings. A daily streak, and a reminder if you want one.

Made for first-time managers, team leads, and anyone who has rewritten the same message five times before sending it.
