Features & Capabilities

Three free days of whole sentences — they start when your child does, not when you install. Single words always speak, bought or not.

A picture-based communication board that speaks.

Tap a symbol: the app says the word and adds it to the sentence strip along the top. Tap a few more, press Speak, and the whole sentence is said in one breath.

WHO IT IS FOR Children, teenagers and adults who are non-speaking or minimally speaking, and the families, teachers and speech-language pathologists who set the board up.

BUTTONS NEVER MOVE A word lives in one place on the grid, permanently. Nothing sorts, reflows or promotes a button because it was used often. A hidden word keeps its square rather than closing the gap, so every other word stays where the hand knows to find it.

THREE WAYS TO START The ready-made board carries core vocabulary — the words that carry most of everyday speech — staged: a first board is a handful of them, the rest already in place. You reveal the next stage in parent mode; nothing appears on its own.

A blank board is the same grid with nothing in it, for anyone bringing their own vocabulary: you fill it a word or a folder at a time.

Or a board someone sent you: setup asks which of the three you want.

A BOARD YOU CAN SEND Any board leaves the app as one file — its words, its grid, its photos and its recorded voices — sent by AirDrop, Files, Mail or a message. A speech-language pathologist can build a board for each family and send it: the family opens it and starts.

A board that arrives is added, never substituted: you see its grid, its word count and its media before anything is stored; the child's board is untouched until you say so. One device holds as many boards as you like; the child sees exactly one, and it never changes under them.

MADE TO FIT A BODY • Hold to activate, with a visible ring, for a hand that brushes the screen; ignore repeats, for tremor • Grids from 2 × 2 to 9 × 7, chosen at setup with a tap test • Word size and position, button spacing, labels under, over or off, stronger outlines, a low-vision board on black • VoiceOver in direct-touch mode, so the board still behaves like an instrument • Guided Access, Assistive Access, left- or right-handed chrome, an orientation lock for a mounted device

THE SENTENCE, AND THE VOICE Backspace removes the last word; Clear empties the strip and offers to undo itself. Folders open a board of the same size and come home by themselves. Choose the voice, its speed, pitch and volume.

YOURS, AND OFFLINE Your own photo on any button, your own recorded voice on any word. All of it stays on this device: no account, no cloud. The app sends anonymous counts, never a word, a picture or a recording, and works in airplane mode, permanently, speech included.

PARENT MODE Behind a press and hold, never a tap: reveal, add, edit or delete a word, or swap its symbol. Put every revealed word back into hiding, rebuild the board as it arrived, restore a copy the app kept before a big change, or delete everything and start over.

WHAT IT COSTS Tapping a word always speaks it, free and unlimited. Whole sentences are free for three days, counted from the first one the board speaks; after that Speak asks for the purchase: pay once, or subscribe.

LANGUAGES English, Italian, Spanish and French. Each non-English vocabulary was generated from a curated glossary and has not been reviewed by a speech and language therapist.

WHAT THIS IS NOT It is not a medical device and makes no claim about anyone's speech; it is a tool for saying things. Work with a speech-language pathologist if you can: they will help you choose the vocabulary and the grid, and the app is better with one than without.

Research reviews have found no evidence that AAC hinders speech development (Millar, Light & Schlosser, 2006).
