Talking Tiles: AAC for Kids

Free, offline, no account. 240 symbols across 14 boards in 31 languages, a parent lock on Settings, and nothing at all collected about your child.

TalkingTiles turns a tap on a picture into a spoken word, so a child who does not speak can still say what they think, want, and feel.

Tap a tile and it says its word out loud. Tap a few more and they line up in the strip along the top; press play and the whole sentence is spoken at once. There is nothing to set up first and nothing to learn before you start.

WHAT IS INSIDE

Fourteen boards of illustrated symbols covering everyday vocabulary: food, feelings, people, places, verbs, clothes, colors, toys, letters and numbers. Two hundred and forty symbols in all, drawn for this app.

Save the phrases you reach for most, so "I need the bathroom" is one tap instead of five.

MADE TO FIT THE CHILD

Choose how many tiles fill a row, from three big targets to twelve. Set the symbol size and the label size separately. Pick the voice, and adjust how fast and how high it speaks.

FOR PARENTS AND THERAPISTS

Put a PIN on Settings so a curious tap cannot change the voice or wipe a saved phrase. The boards stay fully usable, so locking Settings never stops a child communicating.

PRIVACY

TalkingTiles collects nothing. No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. It makes no network requests at all, so it works everywhere, including on a plane or in a waiting room with no signal.

THE SYMBOLS ARE YOURS TOO

All two hundred and forty symbols are released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Print them, remix them, put them in your own worksheets. The only condition is credit.
