Privacy first — by design, not by policy

No analytics. No telemetry. No crash reporters. Hearth makes zero network calls outside of iCloud. No third-party SDKs. Pure Apple frameworks only — SwiftUI, SwiftData, CloudKit, Speech, AppIntents. Your data stays in your iCloud. There is no Hearth server. We literally cannot see your spending. The privacy boundary is enforced at the data layer, not just hidden in the UI. Private expenses are stored in a separate CloudKit zone from shared ones — they never touch the household record at all. On-device intelligence. Speech recognition and expense parsing run locally on your device whenever your hardware supports it. Works fully offline. iCloud is optional. The app is 100% functional with sync disabled.

Per-category monthly budgets with progress tracking. Household-scoped or personal-scoped budget views. Currency-aware — every budget carries the household's currency. Visual progress on the Home and Insights screens — see where you're trending before the month closes.

Voice overlay sheet captures speech with on-device recognition. Natural language parsing extracts amount, merchant, and category automatically. Three-tier intelligence chain — uses the most capable model your device supports, with a rule-based fallback that runs in sub-millisecond time. Merchant memory — Hearth learns the categories you assign to your regular merchants and suggests them next time. Review before saving — every voice entry gets a quick confirmation before it lands in your ledger.

Month widget — current household spend and remaining budget at a glance. Members widget — who's contributed what this month. Voice widget — one tap to start a voice expense from your Home Screen. Quick-type widget — jump straight into the add-expense sheet. Live data via a shared App Group store — widgets reflect your latest entries without waiting for sync.

What Hearth deliberately doesn't do

No "settle up" or IOU tracking — Hearth is about visibility, not enforcement. No bank account linking, no Plaid, no scraping. No receipt OCR or photo storage. No social feed, no leaderboards, no sharing outside your household.

Hearth is for people who want to understand their shared spending without surrendering their privacy to do it.
