Resting heart rate & recovery
Your heart rate tells a story. HeartStress helps you read it — on device, no account.
Read your heart rate. Notice changes early. Take better care of yourself.
HeartStress turns Apple Watch heart rate data — especially resting heart rate
trends — into a clear daily score, so shifts from your personal normal are
easier to spot in plain language, every day.
WHY I BUILT THIS
I am a developer and a long-time Apple Watch user. In 2024, resting heart
rate trends and high-heart-rate alerts on my Apple Watch caught my attention —
my numbers had been drifting from my usual range for days. I went to the
hospital and was later found to have hyperthyroidism.
That was not a conclusion from a watch or an app. It was a persistent pattern
in my heart rate data that told me to take my body's signals seriously. Since
then I have paid much closer attention to heart rate, and I have wanted a
clearer, more accessible way to notice unusual patterns earlier.
HeartStress is that tool.
HOW IT CAN HELP YOU
· After a run of late nights, your score shows higher-than-usual load —
a quiet reminder that rest matters more than one more hour of work.
· On a high-pressure day, seeing your resting heart rate sit above your
normal range makes it easier to decide: push through, or pull back?
· After a week of better sleep, your trend chart shows heart rate settling
back toward your baseline — a small win that is easy to miss otherwise.
· Check the complication on your watch face any time: one glance shows
where today sits relative to your own normal.
WHAT HEARTSTRESS TRACKS
Wear your Apple Watch as usual. HeartStress reads resting heart rate,
nighttime heart rate, HRV, sleep, and activity from Apple Health, then
combines them into one daily Heart Stress Score (0–100) with a plain-language
summary of how today compares to your personal baseline.
· Resting and nighttime heart rate trends vs your personal baseline
· Daily Heart Stress Score with a warm, easy-to-read summary
· The signals behind the score — not just a number with no explanation
· 7 / 30 / 90-day trends across heart rate, HRV, sleep, and activity
· Gentle alerts when high load or under-recovery keeps showing up
· Shareable PDF reports with key days, heart-rate drivers, and recovery notes
· Apple Watch app and complications to check your score at a glance
YOUR NORMAL, NOT A GENERIC AVERAGE
Everyone has their own heart rate rhythm. HeartStress builds a personal
baseline from your history. The question it asks every day is "how does
today compare to your usual self" — not a one-size-fits-all benchmark.
