Red Fire is a deep Cold War-era strategy game set in East Asia from 1950 to 1975. Lead land, air, and naval forces across dozens of nations—from the US and USSR to Korea, Vietnam, and beyond—with realistic, turn-based combat and a focus on strategic planning rather than frantic action.

Powered by a detailed simulation of air, sea, and ground warfare, Red Fire challenges you with an adaptive AI and optional hotseat multiplayer. It is an offline game—no internet required—with no ads or in-app purchases, and offers a one-time purchase that unlocks all current and future content.

Key features include: turn-based play across 1950–1975 East Asia, 500+ aircraft types, 500+ ships, dozens of participating nations, offline mode, no ads, no IAPs, adaptive AI, and hotseat multiplayer for head-to-head battles.

User Reviews

Players praise Red Fire for being engaging with strong replay value and diverse Cold War scenarios, but report stability issues (crashes, freezes), critical bugs (Guam/naval/land immobilization, sea transport problems) and AI problems (recapturing behind lines). An aircraft-order automation glitch and lag with large stacks are also noted. There is a clear demand for more content (Europe/Africa/Middle East theatres) to broaden the game.
Pros
  • Very fun with high replay value; praised as one of the best in the series by fans.
  • Rich Cold War themes with diverse scenarios and campaigns.
  • Strong community engagement and potential for expansion; demand for new theatres shows lasting appeal.
  • Good for casual play and travel; enjoyable pick-up-and-play experience.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and freezes during gameplay.
  • Guam/naval/land units get stuck; sea transport issues blocking progress.
  • AI relentlessly captures territories behind your lines each turn.
  • Aircraft auto-renew orders glitched, requiring constant reordering.
  • Performance lag with large forces; requests for more theatres (Europe/Africa/Middle East) and content.

This game is phenomenal. The escalation system adds so much complexity and realism and the game is very detailed. Would love to see more! I could easily spend hours on this.

It would be amazing if you guys added a European theatre because I was playing Korea 2000 and it said British and Turkish aircraft had been available but there is no Turkey, in the game it would be so fun if you guys added a European theatre
