I’ve just started using the Brick app and it really helps me not be able to use some of the apps on my phone when I’m doing things that shouldn’t require me to be on my phone. For example, for a lot of people nowadays, we watch or scroll while eating. Since I woukd have to go get the Brick to scan my phone, I didn’t feel the need to get it and felt a little calmer without all of the noise. It’s annoyingly helpful in a way. Thanks Brick developers, you’ve made a cool app and a huge difference in my life!

Love the device and app, it’s great for reducing screen time and so easy to set up. One suggestion though- it would be great to unbrick with a timer, so after a certain amount of time the phone rebricks itself. The magic of the brick is that you have to make a conscious choice to unlock the apps, however once the device is unlocked, you have to make the choice to relock it. I often lose track of time after I unlock the device.

The best part of the brick: it utilizes my executive dysfunction. I genuinely do not feel like taking a few steps into another room to unbrick my phone, so I give up and start doing laundry or getting myself ready for the day. I find I don’t need to look at many things during the day and it can *almost* always wait. I love the removal of urgency without being permanently blocked out by time limits (my spouse has the screen time password). If I delete apps I eventually reinstall them when I do need important info. The ability to brick the App Store is amazing because I’m a screen junkie who will download infinite browsers just to get an unlimited fix of YouTube. I’ll even scroll through reviews just to have something to scroll through. Amazing device.
