User Reviews

Reviews praise Breathe2Relax for its calming, easy-to-use breathing guidance and potential to ease anxiety and panic. Many users cite its simplicity and diaphragmatic breathing instruction as key benefits. However, recurring issues center on post-update changes and device compatibility, including a new 9-second inhale/exhale cap, frequent Apple Watch/phone connectivity problems, loud background music, few voice options, and a 16-cycle limit. Users also report navigation and usability quirks. Overall sentiment is mixed: strong value for relaxation when working, but significant functionality and accessibility problems hinder consistent use.
Pros
  • Calming and relaxing effect that helps reduce anxiety.
  • Easy to use and beginner-friendly with clear, guided breathing.
  • Effective for anxiety, panic attacks, and general stress management; often recommended by therapists.
  • Teaches diaphragmatic breathing and breath awareness.
  • Free to use with no noticeable subscriptions or in-app purchases mentioned.
Cons
  • Update reduced inhale/exhale timers to a 9-second limit, reducing flexibility for advanced practitioners.
  • Connectivity issues with Apple Watch/phone and internet; frequent messages like 'phone not reachable' and videos failing to load.
  • Audio balance problems: music can overpower voice; limited voice options and no slower pace option.
  • Cycle count is capped at 16 cycles, with requests for unlimited or customizable durations.
  • UX/navigation glitches after updates (e.g., unclear progression, occasional lock-screen interruptions, and features not functioning as expected).

While the app has been updated, it lost some functionality. For example, I used to be able to set the inhale/exhale times to 12 seconds. Now it limits you to nine seconds. For people who have strong breathing practices, this is a real limit.

I used to use this app daily- I would say it was the best of its category, but now it is unusable. It will go to lock screen by your third breath.

The music is so loud I can’t hear the voice instruction and I miss the large side metronome. Why so many changes at once? I am a Speech Therapist and have many disappointed clients. Please go back to the original version, I am begging you!
