User Reviews

Most reviews highlight schedule reliability problems (times wrong or not loading). Many users report post-update breakage: favorites, track numbers, countdowns, and platform information removed. Performance is frequently poor (lag, long load times, crashes). UI/UX changes after updates are confusing and cluttered, making navigation harder and tickets harder to reach. The carpool feature and ads also disrupt usage, with notification spam and frequent interruptions. A few users note usable schedules when the app works and years of past usefulness.
Pros
  • Core scheduling function for MetroNorth train times, widely used by commuters
  • Longstanding tool used by riders for years
  • Schedules are generally accurate when the app is functioning
Cons
  • Train times are often inaccurate or not loading (e.g., only showing up to a limited time; zero schedules loading)
  • Major updates removed or broke core features (saved favorites, track numbers, countdown, platform info, automatic location)
  • Performance issues: slow responses, lag, freezing, and occasional crashes
  • UI/UX changes post-update make navigation confusing and cluttered, with tickets/favorites hard to access
  • Carpool feature clutter and intrusive notifications; ads integrated in a way that disrupts use

The times are always off there is a notice from August still running. My train is 45 minutes late and showing on time. Worthless.

This app is not bad if you can find your way around. The big flaw though, is navigating from the Home Screen to Tickets that you have purchased. There isn’t a single clue that you have tickets waiting to use or how to get to them — real basic stuff. Hopefully, in the next 20 years, big government-like company that they are, we’ll get an upgrade.
