User Reviews

InmateSales is used mainly to call and video-visit inmates, but reviews highlight recurring problems: high/pricing and opaque fees, frequent stability issues (crashes, login problems, logouts), Wi‑Fi dependence and poor cellular performance, weak customer support, and login/account hurdles. These issues undermine usability despite the essential function.
Pros
  • Core function: enables calling and video visits to communicate with incarcerated loved ones, which is the app's primary purpose and is repeatedly cited as why people use it.
  • Funds management: allows adding money to an account and monitoring remaining balance for calls/visits.
  • Basic functionality when signed in: some users report that calls/top-ups work and the app functions adequately when properly logged in.
Cons
  • High and opaque pricing/fees for calls and video visits, with many reviewers describing the costs as predatory or excessive.
  • Frequent technical issues: crashes, login errors, account/login loops, and regular logouts that disrupt use.
  • Reliance on Wi‑Fi and poor performance on cellular networks; users report calls won’t work well outside Wi‑Fi or on cellular data.
  • Poor customer support: long hold times, difficulty contacting the developer, and insufficient help resolving issues.
  • Account creation/login problems: phone number already linked to an account, password reset loops, and other access barriers.

Everyone my brother calls me it disconnects us or I can hear him but he can’t hear me, very unfortunate but no alternative

I’ve had the app for over a year, yesterday it was messing up. Everytime my person tried to call me it wouldn’t show me they were calling or show me I missed the call the only reason I knew they had been trying to call was because I went to my call log to see why they hadn’t called. So I deleted the app and tried to reinstall and now it’s telling me I have to pay 6$ to get the app back. So is this app not free?
