Features & Capabilities

FUJIFILM XApp lets you pair a Fujifilm camera with your iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth to transfer photos and videos, remotely control the camera, backup and restore settings, and sync date, time, and location. The app uses Wi‑Fi on your device for fast transfers and firmware updates, and supports the latest firmware upgrades for your camera.

When you sign in to Fujifilm's network service, daily shooting activity is summarized in a diary format to help you review your work and improve your skills. The app supports English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Simplified Chinese, Russian, Korean, Thai, and Indonesian, and works with a range of compatible devices and iOS/iPadOS versions. Note: the app can run in the background using GPS, which may increase battery usage; you can adjust the Location synchronization interval in Settings.

User Reviews

The XApp is loved by some for ease of use and the useful camera information it provides, but the dominant sentiment is frustration over reliability. Reviewers repeatedly report unstable connections, frequent disconnects, crashes during transfers, slow or failed image transfers, and concerns about granting full access to the photo library. A few users note improvements in newer versions, but overall stability and privacy concerns remain the top issues.
Pros
  • Easy to use when the connection works.
  • Provides useful information about camera features and data.
  • Some users note improvements in connectivity and stability in newer versions.
Cons
  • Frequent, unreliable Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi connections between camera and iPhone; connections often drop.
  • App crashes during downloads or photo transfers.
  • Image transfers are slow or frequently fail to complete.
  • Privacy concerns about requiring full access to the photo library.
  • Firmware updates via the app can cause issues or disrupt pairing.

Fuji is just about the only brand I actually “love” in this world. But this app really tests that love. It fails to connect to my XT-5 and X100VI more than it succeeds. Repeated attempts to connect have bricked two of my batteries for reasons I don’t understand. But because of it, this app has cost me over $100. I’ve resorted to just transferring photos directly to my Mac, then airdropping them to my iphone. Truly one of the worst hardware-to-hardware interfaces out there.

The first install connected, transferred photos and did an update. Subsequent connections the next day were intermittent. Uninstalled, reinstalled, and again, ok until you disconnect and try again. As bad as the Nikon app. Got a as reader for my iPad/phone instead of fighting with a bad app. Extremely disappointed. iPhone 17, iPad mini a17, latest os.

I've been using this for a couple of years. I love the preview and transfer. The resize feature for transfers is nice. Recently, no photos have been showing up in my transfers unless they were taken on the app.
