User Reviews

Reviews repeatedly criticize the Omnipod 5 Simulator for lacking a real iOS app and usable features, while appreciating its educational intent. The top issues are the absence/delay of an iOS app, minimal interactivity and missing core features (like Food Library and Dexcom integration), and misleading expectations about Apple-device compatibility. Overall, the tool is seen as educational but impractical in its current state.
Pros
  • Educational tool for getting patients comfortable with Omnipod 5 before pump start
  • Positive sentiment toward the creators/intent of the app and its educational purpose
Cons
  • No iOS app / prolonged delays and unfulfilled promises for an iPhone-compatible Omnipod 5 app
  • Simulator is largely non-functional with limited interactivity (e.g., bolus button issue, inability to input carbs, pages of details that don’t open)
  • Missing or discontinued features in the new O5 PDM (Food Library)
  • Dexcom connectivity/integration is incomplete (e.g., no Dexcom G7 connectivity) or inconsistently supported
  • Misleading marketing about Apple-device compatibility and real-world usability on iOS

How will I ever get a patient to start Omnipod 5 when they can’t even get hands on experience? The bolus button falls off at the bottom of the screen and shows barely a sliver of purple. They can’t even type in the amount of carbs they eat. Bring back the old app. It worked perfectly. This new app does not build confidence in the patients who are eager to try an insulin pump but want to know that they can handle the technology part. And it does not build confidence in your brand. If the app doesn’t work for me, they will never trust the technology of the actual OP5 pump.

2026- This simulator simply doesn’t work on a new iPhone. As a diabetes educator I’d love a functional tool to show the patients what the app is like. Also if I’m walking a patient through a change of settings over zoom or a phone call I need to know what menus have the settings we are looking for.
