User Reviews
Pros
- When it works, the app is usable and some reviewers call it decent/not bad.
- Annotation features exist (highlighting and notes) and are usable to some extent.
- For students using school-purchased ebooks, Kortext provides centralized access in a single app.
Cons
- Frequent crashes, slow loading, and sign-in/out problems.
- Poor navigation and paging: uses LOC instead of real page numbers; hard to jump to chapters and scrolling is inconsistent.
- Read Aloud features are unreliable: limited voices, stops at page end, not continuous.
- Annotation/highlighting limitations: can't cross pages, cumbersome UI, copying text is difficult.
- Account/access issues: duplicate accounts, login loops, accounts not found, and slow or unresponsive support.

Is the Read Aloud option supposed to be a joke? I have to use this site/app for a class and it is helpful to have the “read aloud” option available when life is busy. But if your app just does not have the capability to provide a decent option don’t make it available. There is a “bell” voice if you can call it a voice and the “good news” sounds like it is singing to you. I’m glad you all are having fun playing with the sounds over there but some people need real options to choose from. I only gave it two starts because I can read the material myself. Last semester, I re-purchased my book from another provider because the pages all merged together and the professor asked us to cite our work.

This app is Super glitchy, the READ BACK mode is really slow and robotic sounding, you can’t even change the speed you get to listen to it in. I can’t believe this company has a contract with universities. It’s like a bad joke honestly. Do better KORTEXT put the money you’ve received back into the app and truly develop this software, or give us customers a DRM FREE PDF so we don’t have to stay on this platform and suffer the whole semester trying to read our books. Right now it’s false advertisement to claim a READ ALOUD function with variety.
