User Reviews

Users praise FODMAP Friendly for ease of use, a strong recipe maker, and an extensive food database. Recurring drawbacks include onboarding friction due to mandatory location data, login/verification issues, navigation/search frustrations, gaps in content, and concerns about pricing/paywalls and ads.
Pros
  • Easy to use with a clean layout, graphics, and categorized searches.
  • Recipe Maker feature helps manage FODMAP stacking; available for a one-time fee.
  • Extensive food database with single-ingredient items, clear portion guidance, and daily FODMAP category percentages.
  • Helpful and responsive developer support.
  • Some reviews note it is free or ad-free and appreciated by users.
Cons
  • Sign-up/registration requires location data (city/ZIP) and may block onboarding due to privacy concerns.
  • Login/verification issues across devices; emails may not be sent or addresses rejected.
  • Navigation/search usability problems (recipe pages reset, exact-item search requirements, inconsistent UX).
  • Content coverage gaps and regional differences; not fully comprehensive; missing items in some areas.
  • Pricing transparency concerns and perceived paywalls/ads for features like the Recipe Maker.

I downloaded the app, tried to sign up as a new user, and I can’t because the app doesn’t recognize my city and says it doesn’t exist. Useless.

This is the best app that I have used thus far. Straight forward to use, has most single ingredient foods and no adds.

It has a lot of helpful tools and I like the variety of recipes, they look like things I’d want to eat even off of this diet. But it drives me crazy that every time I click on a recipe to look/add it, it starts you over at the beginning of the recipes again, I mean if you’re trying to browse through. Even with app background refresh turned off. I wish the recipe maker also had some common processed ingredients in it, like (insert popular brand) gluten free flour. Which would be commonly used instead of trying to come up with our own version of flour. (Gluten free mainly due to it being low fodmap bc wheat isn’t.) Thank you :)
