Foxy Gestures Firefox

Foxy Gestures

By: liebs
Mouse gestures for Firefox. A web extension alternative to FireGestures created by a long time FireGestures user.

Features & Capabilities

Foxy Gestures is a powerful Firefox web extension inspired by FireGestures, providing customizable mouse, wheel, and chord gestures to enhance your browsing experience. It supports gestures using left, middle, or right mouse buttons along with gesture wheel controls and user-defined scripts.

Despite web extension limitations preventing integration with certain Firefox internal pages and features, Foxy Gestures offers configurable timeouts, gesture trails, customizable status text, and optional permissions that activate only when needed. Ideal for users wanting to navigate Firefox efficiently using mouse gestures with a modern, open-source web extension.

User Reviews

Overall, the dominant theme is unreliability: multiple reviews report that Foxy Gestures does not work, or fails to perform basic actions like opening menus. A few users express positive sentiment, highlighting its open-source nature and long-standing use. There are mentions of browser compatibility issues (e.g., changes since Firefox 149) and feature requests (e.g., working on non-http pages). A minority have managed to get it to work at times, but repeated failures appear to be common across reviews.

Would it be possible to have this addon working in non-http.s pages, for exemple about:* ?

Ever since I updated to Firefox 149, when I use the "Open link in new tab" compound command, the link opens in a new tab as expected, but now a blank new tab also opens at the same time.
