easyGestures N Firefox

easyGestures N

Easy to learn gestures through a highly customizable pie menu.

Features & Capabilities

easyGestures N provides easy to learn gestures for browsing the Web through a highly customizable pie menu.

Click the middle mouse button (or the left mouse button and a 'Shift' key on a Mac) to open the pie menu, then click on the action to execute. Or even faster, hold down that button, drag the mouse pointer over the action to execute and release the button. Customize the actions available on the pie menu in the preferences dialog. Check out other features in the tips.

This extension is a fork of version 4.3.2 of the easyGestures extension created by Ons Besbes, who maintained it until Firefox 4. Help is very much welcome, especially for updating and maintaining the formerly supported locales.

The permissions requested by this extension are used for the following purposes: <ul> <li>"Access browser activity during navigation": Opening the pie menu on (cross-origin) inner frames</li> </ul>

Additionally, users can explicitly grant the following optional permissions in the preferences dialog in order to enable the following features: <ul> <li>"Access your data for all websites": "Take tab screenshot" action</li> <li>"Read and modify bookmarks": "Daily readings", "Bookmark this page", "Bookmark this identifier", "Bookmark this text fragment", "Bookmark this link", "Bookmark all tabs", "Remove bookmark to this page", "Remove bookmark to this identifier", "Remove bookmark to this text fragment", and "Remove bookmark to this link" actions</li> <li>"Read and modify browser settings": "Home page" and "New window" actions</li> <li>"Get data from the clipboard": "Paste" action</li> <li>"Input data to the clipboard": "Copy image" action</li> <li>"Download files and read and modify the browser’s download history": "Save page as...", "Take tab screenshot", "Save link as...", and "Save image as..." actions; Exporting preferences</li> <li>"Read the text of all open tabs": "Find and highlight selection" and "Remove highlight" actions</li> <li>"Access recently closed tabs": "Undo close tab" and "Undo close window" actions</li> </ul>

User Reviews

Hi, thank you for this highly configurable add on. It works great. Thak you for this great add-on, cheers

A great add-on, very useful, but it has horrible icons with no power of intuition and help of colors. Poor set of icons. Also for lack of instructions for using scripts in the script build box. I tried several models (js, scr, vbs, bat, py ...) but none worked. A how-to is missing with the used language statements. -----REPOST EM ADDITION. Hi. Thank you for your attention and response. In a previous message posted by another user, it seems easier to recreate a set of new icons than adding new icons to the existing set. I did not find a link to donate to the project. However, my thanks for the effort for the continuity of easyGesture, waiting for the changes in the set of icons.

"1. The old icons were no longer up to date; many actions did not have an (appropriate) icon." Icons dont degrade ( unless the supported format changes) so the "up to date' is a 'change to a new (icon) fashion' and rather than add an appropriate icon you made an entire new (worse) icon set. Very good. (Note it's worse because smaller, low contrast and no color) "2. They were not adapted to high resolution displays (and the pie menu looked awful on those)." Presumably the new ones are now adapted to high resolution displays but now look like uncontrasted random scribble everywhere (else) - also excellent "3. Their sources were not available, so I could not update them." Because of course the only way to update *icons* is from their source. "4. Their license was unknown." But historically released and freely available with this use . "If you provide me with a new set of icons satisfying the above requirements, I might consider providing an option to use them." Rather than just providing an option to use the original icons where they might make more sense to do so... Conversely if you provide an option to use the old icons I might consider continuing to use this add-on. Otherwise I guess a downgrade and update halt is in order - the latest update has nothing i need or desire and actually makes the usability, recognition and functionality of the add-on worse rather than better... Thx for your efforts tho'
