Summary

Autofocus is the worst HTML feature. Maybe that isn't true, but I don't like it.

You know when you go to Yahoo.com to check the latest entertainment news? You hit the down button to scroll down, because you can only read the first half of the Kanye headline. But the down button seems to do... nothing. Down. Down. Down. You keep trying, but still can't read what Yeezus has gotten into.

Finally you figure it out. Yahoo drops your cursor into the search field on page load. So the down button is executed in the input field, which doesn't do anything. So you find an empty spot on the page to click, and now the down arrow works.

If you're anything like me, you run through this dance a few times day--somehow it's a tough lesson to learn.

What's that? I'm the only person who still gets the news from Yahoo! Yeah, I know.

Anyway--this extensions clears the focus of any input field. It takes a bit, maybe two seconds, because the page has to finish loading first. But the page is now yours to take back!

This was built with cVim and Vimium in mind, because 'j' and 'k' should work straight-off on all pages. :)

User reviews
Perfect! I've wanted this for ages, for the same reason. I tried userscripts with Tampermonkey, but they didn't work. The only improvement I can think of would be a whitelist so that autofocus could still be allowed on some websites, though I don't need that myself.
