How It Works

Steps and Health Connect
Your step count is the only thing that unlocks your apps, so Walk Lock needs an
accurate daily total.
Walk Lock counts your steps on its own using your phone's built-in step sensor — no
other app required. It can also read your daily step count from Health Connect, so
steps already recorded by the fitness app you use (Samsung Health, Google Fit, Fitbit
and others) count toward your earned time too. Without this, walking tracked by
another app would earn you nothing.
Walk Lock only reads Steps. It never writes to Health Connect, and does not request
heart rate, sleep, location, or any other health data. Your step data stays on your
device — it is never uploaded to our servers, shared, sold, or used for advertising.
You can use Walk Lock without granting Health Connect access; it will simply count
only the steps it measures itself.
