Toxic Rise

Toxic Rise is a tense, fast one-thumb arcade climber set deep inside a failing containment facility.

A hazmat operator stands on a steel platform at the bottom of a reactor shaft while a wall of bubbling green acid sludge creeps up from below. Corroded steel platforms zig-zag upward into the dark. HOLD the LEFT half of the screen to charge an ascent up-and-left, HOLD the RIGHT half to charge up-and-right -- a power gauge fills while you hold, and drag across to re-aim on the fly. Read the arc previewed by the vector dots, dose your thrust, and release to leap. Land dead-centre on the next platform for a PERFECT and bonus points; ascend short or long and you plunge past the grating into the acid below.

The catch: the acid never stops rising. Linger too long and it overflows your feet and dissolves you, so every ascent is a race upward. Deeper reactor sectors send the sludge line up faster and stack trickier steel -- platforms that slide side-to-side and dark corroded platforms that collapse a heartbeat after you land, forcing you to ascend before the grating gives way. Glowing reactor cores float above some platforms; recover them on your way out for extra score. Scale the platforms each sector demands to purge it, then chase a cleaner best score on every one.
