YouTube SpeedUp adds a draggable speedometer to the native YouTube player controls, letting you increase or decrease playback speed with precision. Use keyboard controls (Enter, Space, and Arrow keys) and click to reset to 1.00. Hover the control to see the current speed, and the saved speed carries across YouTube navigation, including Shorts.

Settings are accessible via Firefox: about:addons → Extensions → YouTube SpeedUp → Options. You can enable separate behavior for regular videos and Shorts, set the saved speed, adjust the speed increment, or reset to defaults. All data is stored locally, no data is collected, and the extension supports Firefox 140+ on desktop.

Recent reviews

I like it. It requires minimal permissions, and this new update is great. --- I would like to suggest a new feature. Is it possible to set different playback speeds for each video individually? Currently, if I change the speed on one video, it seems to affect others. I want each video to maintain its own speed setting. For example, when playing two YouTube videos simultaneously, I’d like to keep one (music) at 1x speed while watching the other at 1.5x speed. If that's not possible, it’s still perfectly fine as it is. Thank you for all your hard work!

Please disable this extension for youtube music. I have to go back to youtube to reset speed.
