TrustScope

A Google rating gives you a number. TrustScope shows what's behind it: trust score, what people talk about in reviews, and more.

Features & Capabilities

WHAT IS TrustScope?

🗺 You're choosing a place:

Choosing a place for a birthday, a wedding, or a date usually means digging through dozens of reviews and customer photos just to check whether the venue lives up to its rating. TrustScope does that digging for you - right on Google Maps.

A star average is a single number built from hundreds of individual experiences. It tells you almost nothing about how those experiences differ, what people actually praised or complained about, or whether the reviews behind it look genuine. TrustScope adds that missing layer directly on top of the Google listing you're already looking at - no extra searching, no guesswork.

💼 You own a business:

TrustScope helps you turn customer reviews into clear insights: how customers feel, which aspects of your business they praise or criticize, and where you stand against competitors.

⭐ WHY A RATING ALONE ISN'T ENOUGH?

A 4.6-star venue and another 4.6-star venue can tell very different stories. One might have consistently glowing feedback across years of visits. The other might be propped up by a burst of near-identical five-star reviews posted the same week, alongside a steady trickle of complaints about the same recurring issue.

Google's rating doesn't distinguish between these cases and most users have no easy way to either, short of reading through hundreds of reviews themselves. TrustScope closes that gap. It looks at the reviews behind the score and surfaces the context a single average can't show: how consistent the experience really is, what people are actually talking about, and how genuine the reviews look.

🎨 WHAT THE STAR COLOURS MEAN

Underneath the standard Google rating, TrustScope shows a small coloured star. It's not a repeat of the Google score - it's a fast, at-a-glance read on how much the underlying reviews support that score.

🟢 - Green - The reviews behind the rating look authentic and consistent. What you see is a reasonably reliable picture of the venue. 🟢 - Light green - Mostly credible reviews, with some inconsistency worth a closer look. 🟠 - Orange - Weaker signals. The reviews show patterns - inconsistency, thin content, or unusual timing - that make the headline rating less reliable on its own. 🔴 - Red - Something looks off. This can mean a high share of reviews with unusual patterns, or a rating that the underlying feedback doesn't clearly support. ⚪ - Gray - Not analyzed yet. Click the TrustScope button under the venue's rating to generate a score.

💡 The color is a starting signal, not a verdict. It tells you when it's worth digging deeper, and the detailed analysis is where you do that digging.

🔎 WHAT YOU SEE IN THE DETAILED ANALYSIS

Opening the detailed analysis breaks the single Google score down into the dimensions that actually make up a venue's reputation. It's built from the venue's 500 most recent reviews - enough to see the patterns that matter, and we're upfront about that scope:

📊 - Trust score - a 0–100 read on how credible and consistent the reviews look, with any unusual patterns flagged separately. 💬 - What people talk about - a breakdown across the aspects that matter for that type of venue (service, food, cleanliness, value, waiting time, staff, and more, depending on the category), so you can see exactly where a business is strong and where it consistently falls short - not just that it scored "well" overall. 🔎 - Review quality signals - practical indicators of whether reviews look like they came from real visitors: whether they include photos, whether reviewers use real profile photos, whether they're detailed or just a few words, and whether they come from established accounts with a history of reviewing many places rather than accounts created to leave a single review. ⭐ - Rating distribution - how the individual star ratings actually spread out, which can reveal a polarized venue hiding behind a smooth-looking average. 📈 - Reviews over time - the change in the number of reviews over time. This helps you determine whether you’re looking at a long-standing and consistent history or a recent spike that may have been artificially generated through review manipulation or a promotion offering incentives in exchange for leaving a review.

💡 Together, these dimensions answer the question a single rating can't: not just how good is this place, but why, how consistently, and how much should I trust it.

🔍 DON’T BELIEVE. VERIFY

You don’t have to blindly trust TrustScope’s analysis. You can verify every calculation, every figure, and every claim made by TrustScope.

Click on any data point - an aspect score, a quality signal, an unusual-pattern flag, a point on the timeline, a rating segment - and TrustScope shows you the real reviews behind it.

If the analysis flags a recurring service issue, you can read the actual reviews mentioning service problems. If it flags an unusual burst of short five-star reviews, you can see exactly which reviews triggered that flag and judge for yourself. The flag describes a statistical pattern — it is not a judgment about individual reviews or their authors.

💡 This matters because it keeps the analysis honest:

✅ - You can verify any insight instead of taking it on faith. 🔓 - Nothing is a black box - every conclusion traces back to real customer reviews. 📖 - You can read the original experiences behind a pattern, not just a summary of it. 🎯 - You decide what matters to you. A flagged issue that's a dealbreaker for one person might be irrelevant to another.

TrustScope doesn't tell you what to think about a venue. It gives you better information and a direct path to the evidence, so you can decide for yourself.

🤖 AI-POWERED REVIEW ANALYSIS - COMING SOON

TrustScope will soon add AI-powered analysis that reads through a venue's reviews and distills them into a clear, focused summary of customer opinion - so you don't have to read hundreds of reviews to understand what people are actually saying.

The AI analysis is built to answer the questions that matter most before you choose a place:

👍 - What do customers consistently like? 👎 - What do customers repeatedly complain about? 💡 - What are the most important themes running through the reviews? ⭐ - Does the overall Google rating actually match what customers are saying? 🧭 - What should I know before I go?

It's a summary, not a replacement for your own judgment. The AI analysis condenses the collective voice of past customers into something you can read in seconds and every point it makes still connects back to the individual reviews behind it, the same way the rest of TrustScope does.

💼 WHY THIS MATTERS FOR BUSINESSES TOO

TrustScope is built for the person reading a rating - but a more honest, detailed view of a venue's reputation is valuable on both sides of it. Businesses can use the same analysis to understand how they're actually perceived: which aspects of the experience customers consistently praise, which issues keep coming up, and how consistent their reputation is over time.

This isn't a tool for gaming a rating. It's a way to understand the reputation and customer experience behind the rating - recognizing genuine strengths, spotting recurring problems early, and seeing what's really driving how customers feel. As the AI-powered analysis rolls out, that becomes even more useful: turning a large volume of scattered feedback into one clear, readable picture of what customers think.

🚀 TrustScope is continuing to develop in this direction. Coming for business users:

📚 Complete review history - analysis of every review your venue has ever received, beyond the 500 most recent that the public analysis covers. 📊 Competitor benchmarking - see how your aspect scores and reputation trends compare against the venues you actually compete with. 🤖 An AI assistant - one that reads the tone, context, and nuance in customer language, surfacing insights a purely rule-based algorithm can't catch.

🚀 GET TrustScope

TrustScope is a free Chrome extension that works directly on top of Google Maps - no separate app, no account to create. It collects no personal data and uses no tracking or analytics; everything it stores stays on your own device.

📍 Install it, open any venue on Google Maps, and the analysis is one click away - right under the rating.

💡 THE BOTTOM LINE

A Google rating is only the beginning. TrustScope gives you the story behind it - how trustworthy it is, what it's actually built on, and the reviews you can check for yourself. You don't have to accept a rating at face value anymore. You can look behind it.

User Reviews

I gave this addon a try, first thing first it works only times to times, so sometimes it won't even load on the review page. Anyway, the biggest issues I found after checking a dozen of reviews is that reviews are same as the original ones. Let's say, I know a restaurant that removes all, I MEAN ALL bad reviews, they have only 5 and 4 stars reviews, the addon just shows exact same star rating as Google, so I see nothing that this addon can give me as an user. Maybe in the future after some touch-ups I will come back, but so far is useless, tho idea is GREAT!
