Features & Capabilities

Sonoyo takes the work of opening result after result to check what is true, and hands it to a model.

When you search on Google, a panel appears in the right-hand column and GPT-5.6 Luna runs its own web searches right there. It does not paraphrase the results you can already see: it searches the topic itself and cross-checks what it finds, so background and caveats become visible.

Every claim carries an inline citation to a page the model actually consulted. No source-less summary that sounds plausible but cannot be verified.

■ Two ways to use Sonoyo ・Your own OpenAI API key There is no extension subscription fee. OpenAI bills your account for API usage at its own rates.

・¥980/month plan (tax included) No OpenAI API key is required. Enter the email used at checkout, then authenticate with the six-digit code sent to that address. You can cancel at any time from the subscription-management page.

Both methods provide the same research panel, citations, cache, and appearance controls.

■ Features ・Research on the query itself Sonoyo searches the web for the search phrase itself and reports key points, detail, caveats, and what to search next — starting from what you were trying to find out, not from the links already on the page.

・Inline citations Open the page the model actually read directly from each cited claim.

・Live progress, stoppable You see "Searching: …", "Reading results…", and "Writing the summary…" as they happen, and the text streams in as it is written. Press ✕ in the header to stop — billing stops there too.

・The same search is not billed twice An identical query with identical settings is served from cache for 24 hours by default (adjustable from off to 7 days), so reopening a search page does not generate again.

・Usage in plain sight Runs, extra searches, and input/output tokens for the current month are shown in the popup.

・Follows the search page's appearance By default the panel matches the light / dark setting of Google Search itself, and you can also pin it to light or dark. Panel width (300–560px) and text size (11–18px) are configurable.

・Built to survive layout changes The panel falls back through "Google's right column → its own column → floating at the right edge", and the query is read from the URL, so it does not depend on the DOM structure of the result list.

■ Pricing and usage limits ・Own-key mode requires an OpenAI account with access to GPT-5.6 Luna and hosted web_search. ・The monthly plan renews at ¥980/month (tax included) and includes up to 150 runs or 2M tokens per month, whichever comes first, with 10 runs/minute and 3 extra searches/run. There are no separate OpenAI API usage charges on the monthly plan.

■ What is sent Only the search query, taken from the search page URL, is sent to OpenAI. On the monthly plan, Kagayoi's Hikyaku service temporarily relays it to OpenAI. The contents of the search results, page bodies, and anything from other pages are never sent. While "Use my region for search" is on, a country code and time zone are also passed to make results regionally relevant (city-level data is never constructed). Your API key and the monthly plan's internal credential are stored in this browser and never exposed to the search page. Requests use store: false, so OpenAI does not retain the conversation.

■ Notes ・Works on Google's regular search tab. Image, video, shopping, and book tabs are not supported. ・Output is an AI summary and can be wrong. Check the cited sources before relying on it.

Is Sonoyo Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Sonoyo requires a lot of sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

Sonoyo is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
