User reviews

Syncmarx is widely appreciated for its reliable, cross-browser bookmark synchronization and as a solid replacement for XMarks, with many praising its use of cloud storage and developer responsiveness. However, multiple users report issues with sync reliability, especially after updates, leading to manual syncing requirements, bookmark duplication, and sync failures. Users also desire better notifications for token problems and more control over sync profiles and selective folder syncing.
Pros
  • Effective cross-browser and cross-platform bookmark synchronization including Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge.
  • Self-controlled bookmark management allowing users to store bookmarks on their own cloud accounts like Dropbox and Google Drive.
  • Reliable replacement for the defunct XMarks extension, praised for long-term stable usage by some users.
  • Good developer support with responsive communication to fix problems and address user concerns.
  • Helpful for users who want to avoid automatic syncing tools and prefer manual control over bookmarks synchronization.
Cons
  • Issues with automatic synchronization failures, requiring manual sync to avoid data loss or reverting to old bookmarks.
  • Occasional duplication of bookmarks causing multiple copies of the same bookmark.
  • Some users report syncing not working properly after updates, including failure to sync changes or sync disconnects.
  • No notifications for token or connection loss leading to unnoticed sync stopping.
  • Lack of features like selective folder sync or easier profile management, such as deleting profiles.

Doesn't seems to sync, after setup, instead of sync my new bookmarks to other computer, this actually delete my newly created bookmarks.

Great tool (and replacement for defunct xmarks), has been working fine for me in Chrome for years. The bad reviews who say it duplicates bookmarks probably have some other sync tool (such as chrome sync) turned on at the same time. I make sure I turn off all other bookmark sync tools, and I have never had any problems with it duplicating bookmarks. Only request (and I sent this as a help request on the website) is to have some notification if the token stops working or is lost, so I can know that my bookmark backups are not happening and fix it.

It's a great extension, but since update to 0.9.0 version, it starts failing on chrome. The bookmarks aren't being synced, and every change I make is not saved and bookmarks are duplicated. Please fix this errors
