User reviews
Pros
- Helps users focus and reduces eye strain when reading online articles or textbooks.
- Allows customization of colors, sizes, and darkness to fit personal reading preferences.
- Simple and effective interface that enhances reading experience.
- Especially helpful for users with dyslexia and ADHD.
- Improves concentration by highlighting a specific area of the screen.
- Provides better readability compared to other extensions, working well on most websites.
Cons
- Does not work properly with PDFs opened in the browser; highlighted section often does not follow the cursor or stays stuck.
- When the screen darkening feature is activated, the entire screen including the reading visor gets darker, making it harder to read.
- Inability to independently adjust the opacity of the background and the reading bar; these settings are linked.
- Buggy behavior such as the visor bar getting stuck in one position or not moving as expected.
- No keyboard shortcut for toggling the visor on/off, making it less convenient to use.

This i so helpful with reading articles! I was shocked to see you could play around with all the colors and sizes. (plus darkness.) but sadly, When you turn it darker the whole screen goes darker. i'd love for someone to add the feature where only the outside goes darker and where you put the visor stays lighter. all together this app is really well made!

Great extension, has helped me focus with reading my online textbooks and long articles so that I don't get distracted or lose my place as fast.
However, a great number of what I need to read is on a PDF, which Visor doesn't work with at all, doesn't even turn on for me.
Additionally, I wish there was a way for the center highlighted section to not also dim when you turn the extension on, since it makes it harder to read and strains my eyes.
If these things were fixed, it'd be awesome and very useful, but unfortunately I don't see myself using it that often right now because of these features.

Really buggy, and not a great user interface either.

Extension safety
Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk
impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of
damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your
personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they
do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
Visor does not require any sensitive permissions.

Chrome extension. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change
as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always
exercise caution when installing a Chrome extension.
Visor has earned a good reputation and can be trusted.
