Features & Capabilities

SonoSequencr enables you to create powerful, officially unsupported Sonos automations. Group devices, build sequences to perform recurring tasks with one tap, and run them across multiple speakers—perfect for synchronized scenes across rooms.

Access your sequences from the Today widget, Apple Watch, or using external triggers like IFTTT. Optional Premium unlocks timed sequences across up to 20 presets; server mode keeps SonoSequencr running in the foreground on a dedicated iOS device. This app is not an official Sonos product.

User Reviews

Reviews consistently praise SonoSequencr for expanding soundstage by adding front speakers and for powerful automation, while praising developer support. However, users note a learning curve, the experimental nature of features, and occasional sub/setup reliability issues.
Pros
  • Adds front left/right speakers to Sonos and dramatically expands the soundstage beyond the stock app.
  • Enables powerful automation and sequences, allowing single taps to run multi-step setups, group zones, adjust volumes, and start playback.
  • Active developer engagement and a supportive community with frequent updates and helpful tutorials (Reddit, forums).
  • Significantly improves overall sound quality and immersion in various Sonos configurations.
  • Flexible across many devices (Era 100/300, subs, Beam/Arc) for diverse home theater and multi-room setups.
Cons
  • Setup is fiddly and has a steep learning curve; not very intuitive and often requires following guides.
  • Features are experimental/beta with no guaranteed reliability; may change or stop working with updates.
  • Sub and configuration can be finicky; may require multiple attempts or careful sequencing to work as expected.
Recent reviews
The real question is why does Sonos officially support these features? Instead they purposefully refuses to acknowledge that many of these configurations are even possible. 😡

Being able to add front speakers is a game changer.

I have dozens and dozens of apps, and this is the first review I’ve ever written. Like all of you, I’m solicited to write reviews, sometimes multiple times a day. I just wanted to pay props to the developer for not only creating this incredible app, making it straightforward to adding two front speakers and adding a second Gen 1/2 sub, staying engaged with his community, and more. I’ve only scratched the surface of all the features his app provides, but the two aforementioned additions (which the official Sonos app does not allow) has made my TV/movie/music experience significantly richer. Thank you, Marcus!
