User Reviews

Users broadly praise Clic for Sonos as a universal, fast, and Apple-friendly controller with strong Apple Watch and Apple Music integration. It outperforms the official Sonos app in UI quality and speed and simplifies multi-room control. However, reviewers cite pricing concerns and recurring reliability issues—such as occasional speaker discovery failures, incomplete updates of live widgets, and platform bugs. Some features are missing or feel incomplete (muting, background refresh, playlist suggestions). Overall, the app is highly valued for convenience and design, but the price and stability are the main trade-offs.
Pros
  • Universal controller across Mac, Apple TV, and multiple Sonos systems, reducing the need to juggle several apps.
  • Apple Watch integration works well, expanding control beyond the phone.
  • Clean, fast, Apple-like UI that feels more polished than the official Sonos app and loads music/playlists quickly.
  • Reliable, responsive controls with simple, incremental volume adjustments.
  • Strong Apple Music integration and quick access to library and playlists.
Cons
  • Pricing is a frequent complaint—many users feel the subscription or lifetime price is too high for the value.
  • Stability issues: occasional speaker discovery failures, lag, and widgets/current track not updating on some platforms.
  • Missing features and UI gaps (e.g., no mute button, some Apple Music suggestions gaps, and background refresh for live activities) that reduce convenience.
  • Setup/uninstall quirks or platform-specific bugs (some users report errors on macOS/iPhone crashes or non-functioning apps).

In order to get the Clic software to work with playlists, you need to have Sonos software working. The same Sonos software that stopped working 4 - 5 years ago. Clic works at controlling speakers, but as far as a replacement for iTunes or Sonos music app it’s useless.

I’m still getting familiar with Clic for Sonos, but it is incredibly better than the state of the Sonos app as of May 2026. Clic is agnostic as to whether you’re using a system with older Sonos equipment or newer Sonos equipment that requires the newer Sonos 2 app - I tested and proved this by going into a home yesterday that was using 6 older Connect:Amps and 2 Play 5 speakers (requiring the old Sonos 1 app) and music on a NAS vs my own system that uses the Sonos 2 app. Clic works on both. Anyone frustrated with using the Sonos app should try Clic for Sonos on their own system. It brings back the pleasure of controlling music playback thru Sonos.
