User Reviews

Reviews praise Blendle’s broad, affordable pay‑per‑article model and curated journalism with a strong reading experience, but repeatedly cite localization/language issues, in‑app top‑up friction, verification email problems, stale content, and signup barriers as common downsides.
Pros
  • Wide range of content from multiple journals and newspapers, providing a single place to read articles from different sources.
  • Affordably priced per-article access (micropayments), often just pennies per article.
  • Generous refund policy that offers full refunds if you change your mind or click by mistake.
  • Beautiful, simple, and intuitive design with a clean reading experience.
  • Quality journalism from reputable outlets (Economist, New Yorker, etc.), supported by micropayments.
Cons
  • Localization issues: app language often appears Dutch, making it unusable for non-Dutch users and causing account problems.
  • No in-app wallet/top-up option; adding funds requires using the website, creating friction.
  • Email verification problems; verification emails sometimes never arrive, blocking setup.
  • Content freshness problems: some outlets are not updated and recommendations can be outdated.
  • Signup barriers, such as reliance on Facebook login, making it hard for users not on Facebook.

Years ago, I enjoyed being able to pay a little to read individual articles. Then I didn’t open the app for years until now, and I found that my account (and the few dollars I had left in it) is gone, and all the suggested articles are in a language I can’t read (Dutch?) I’m giving this app three stars since I used to like it, but it’s no longer usable for me.

I used to be able to pay for articles from U.S. newspapers and magazines. Now the whole App is in Dutch but I’m not in the Netherlands. Is this even the same app? I’m not sure what happened to the money that was in my account before and how I can get it refunded.

I’m generally pleased with the quality of articles, although I wish there were a wider assortment at times. I like having one place to find articles of interest from different sources, and the appearance is good, so it’s a nice reading experience. My biggest frustration is topping up my balance. Despite what the faq’s say, there is NOT a “Wallet” menu option that allows me to add funds within the app. I always have to go to the website & log in when my account runs low. I have checked, and I have the most updated version of the app, so I’m not sure why the faq’s claim there’s a way to do this when there isn’t.
