AI summaries, trusted sources
Every story summarized in plain language. One card per story, even when a dozen outlets cover it. Vetted sources, no account, no paywall. Free on iPhone and iPad.
News without the noise.
The Burgundy Journal is a quiet news reader. It pulls coverage from a short, hand-picked list of trusted outlets, groups the stories that cover the same event, and writes a clear, neutral summary of each — so you can catch up on the day in a few minutes and get on with it.
No account. No paywall. No infinite scroll engineered to keep you here.
HOW IT WORKS
• Vetted sources in, junk out. Coverage streams in from outlets like CNN, BBC News, Wired, TechCrunch, Yahoo Finance, NPR Health and Rolling Stone. No random blogs, no content farms.
• One story, one card. When a dozen outlets chase the same event, you get a single card with one plain-language summary and links to every original.
• The original is one tap away. Every summary links straight to the source reporting, and if a headline was rewritten you can tap to see the outlet's own.
THE FEED
Full-screen cards, one story each. Swipe through what's new; stories you've already seen sink to the bottom so you never re-read the same headline.
EXPLORE
A grid of the big stories right now, ranked by how many outlets are covering them. Tap one and keep reading into a feed built around that topic.
SEARCH AND TIMELINES
Search any topic — a company, a politician, a team, a bill — and see how the story has developed over time. Tap any highlighted keyword inside a summary to follow it.
THE WEEKEND RECAP
Every Monday, a 60-second story-style recap of the weekend's biggest stories. Swipe through it, or skip it.
FILTERS
• Topics: Politics, World, US, Business, Finance, Technology, Science, Health, Sports, Entertainment, Culture, Environment, Crime and Legal. Mute the ones you don't want.
• Mood: show everything, hide the bad news, or switch to good news only.
• Sources: choose which outlets appear.
• Muted words: anything you never want to see again.
WHAT WE DON'T DO
• No sign-up, no email capture, no login wall. Open the app and the feed is there.
• No subscription. The app is free, supported by a few unobtrusive ads instead of a paywall.
• No clickbait. Headlines are rewritten to say what happened, and the original is always one tap away.
Works on iPhone and iPad, in a dark, distraction-free design.
